Fantastic third paragraph. The narrative is what we make ourselves- from every dead enemy to every health pack we pick up! I've had more meaningful experiences with gameplay that evolved organically rather than any scripting or cutscene.
You're absolutely right- and the key is to add a story when (and only when) it's appropriate.
The DLC isn't available on the PS3 yet, I'm afraid- and won't be for some time as it's a timed exclusive.
Haha, there probably are! Unfortunately, many gamers will probably hate Dead Money for that exact reason. It really doesn't pull any punches.
Tretton certainly needs to work on his phrasing. However, I'm not sure he's either an angel or a demon; rather, he's a capable businessman that dropped the ball.
Fingers crossed for Aliens: Colonial Marines...
It's going to be a good year.
Guys: the two peripherals aren't in direct competition with each other. Microsoft's marketing splurge and Move's slow and steady adoption are both valid sales models- but don't delude yourselves into thinking that one peripheral will thrive at the expense of the other. It doesn't work that way. The target consumers are completely separate.
Also, it's worth noting that Sony's marketing division have previously enjoyed the big deal that Microsoft hav...
I worry that they may be missing the point. We don't crave realism anymore- rather, we crave scalability and accessibility. Forza 3 could be an arcade driftathon or a razor sharp realistic racer depending on our tastes, and I hope that Turn 10 cater for players of all abilities.
I am not a fan of Mister Pachter. At all.
However, I'm not sure many of you quite understand what he DOES. As an analyst for Wedbush Morgan, the vast majority (probably >90%) of his predictions probably come true and are based on unassailable math. These prophecies are all 'boring' non-newsworthy items that only appear on shareholder reports etc. He wouldn't have a job otherwise.
And then he has a show on the side. Of course he's going ...
If anything, Syphon Filter could do with a revamp or a reboot before a full sequel. Fans love it (as do I, for the epic tazer alone), but the premise and story is getting lost way back in the mists of time.
Sure, Microsoft will do its best to secure charge for more cable channels and services. However, as we've already seen from Sky and ESPN, these will likely be bolt-on additions rather than an all-inclusive membership option.
It's certainly possible, but I'm personally not convinced by the evidence at hand.
I agree, well said Clizzz. Genuine gaming news (especially from the PC scene) frequently gets buried in the mess of rampant knee-jerk fanboyism on this site.
In the big picture, I suppose that console rivalry does help to inspire developers to make better games. It's fine in theory, but it's still ridiculous to see. Especially in an age where gaming has literally never been as good- for every console.
All games? You might be surprised by the huge proportion of developers who are actually in the business to make cookie-cutter toys rather than works of art.
"If I already have a PS3, why the hell would I pay $180 for a Wii, when I can get the Move bundle that only cost 100 bux"
Erm... this is actually the point. You already have a PS3. So you'll buy a Move. It's a no-brainer, because the Move is primarily targeted at YOU.
New consumers, on the other hand, will find themselves slap bang in the middle between the 360 and PS3... with the Wii providing the perfect middle ground and the only real con...
Not a bad point, that. 'War' is a nice evocative word that makes diehard fans feel like they're fighting for their cause rather than just consuming.
You're absolutely right. The Wii is sitting directly as the real competition for both peripherals. The article is arguing that- far from being "over"- the war never actually existed in the first place.
Reasoned suggestions that actually take Kinect's different capabilities into account- whilst acknowledging Move's prime suitability for a lightsaber game. Even regular 360 controller could possibly be held in one hand for movement etc?
Bubble vote added for insight.
This is rank point scoring at its lowest- but I suppose he does have make a valid argument. Actually holding a cylindrical object that can be detected in 3D space will make for an excellent lightsaber game.
However, this plays into the incorrect myth that Kinect and Move can actually compared as peripherals. They can't- as they both provide completely different gaming experiences. Saying that one is "better" than the other at any given objective is a complete no...
Hmm. We all need to take this story with a pinch of salt.
First of all, the word of an embittered ex-employee should not be trusted without corroboration. Secondly, there's no evidence of conspiracy... just yet another developer getting to grips with the PS3's capabilities (that Sony have admitted to future proofing by making it difficult to develop for initially). Thirdly, have you any idea how ridiculous the idea of a multiplatform publisher "not giving a sh*t&...
The sad thing is that this game would probably sell.
